US primaries: Trump triumphs in Nevada

The irresistible rise of Donald Trump: the US entrepreneur, candidate for President of the United States from the ranks of the Republicans, has won another stage of the primaries of his party, this time in Nevada. Trump thus followed up on the victories in South Carolina and New Hampshire, after however not disfiguring even in the first stage in Iowa. This time it was a real triumph: the rival Marco Rubio was practically doubled (46% of the votes against 23,8), while the winner of the first huddle Ted Cruz and favorite on paper is now third in the preferences of Republican voters, with about 21%.

Nevada, the state where the city of is located Las Vegas, is the seventh largest in the United States: it is slightly smaller than Italy but has only 2,8 million inhabitants. Its inhabitants are 54,1 percent white, 26,5 percent of Latin American origin, 8,1 percent black, and 7,2 percent of Asian origin. It is a state that is changing a lot from a demographic point of view: Las Vegas is a so-called "minority majority city", a place where ethnic minorities make up the majority of the population.

Trump's clear victory, in the state where a few days ago Hillary Clinton overtook her rival Bernie Sanders in the parallel democratic race - albeit not by much - comes just before the so-called Super Tuesday, on Tuesday March 12, during which 22 states will vote simultaneously. In Nevada, 12 delegates were assigned for the Republican assembly which in June will decide the official challenger for the presidential elections in November: the tycoon took home 5, more than double the XNUMX each for Rubio and Cruz.

The states where you vote on March 1 are: Alabama, Alaska, American Samoa, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia. They are awarded altogether 641 delegates: whoever grabs the most will give a strong signal in view of the final rush.
