US primaries: Cruz beats Trump, Clinton joined by Sanders

Twists and turns in Iowa. The polls on the American primaries are denied both in the Republican field, where Ted Cruz (with 28% of the votes) passed Donald Trump (24%), both in the democratic one, with Hilary Clinton basically achieved by Bernie Sanders. Among the conservatives the name of Marco Rubio, who with his 23% came on the heels of Trump (while the fourth arrived, the former neurosurgeon Ben Carson, was far behind, with only 9,3% of the votes). In President Obama's party, however, the withdrawal of the candidacy of the former governor of Maryland, Martin O'Malley, was announced.

The most sensational result, however, is certainly that of Ted Cross, who is in many ways more extremist than Trump himself. With constant references to the Bible, the Cuban-born candidate announced that his presidency will be “the victory of Judeo-Christian values, after years in which Obama has ruined America. This is a grassroots victory. The party establishment had bet on others”.

In fact, the candidate the Republican establishment is betting on is Blond, the most moderate of the three. And in fact Rubio made a triumphant speech, as a quasi-winner, after an evening that consecrated him in the leading trio. In all likelihood, funds from the wealthy financiers who up to now supported Bush will start pouring into him.

Among Democrats, singing victory is Sanders: “At the beginning of my campaign – said the senator from Vermont – I was 40 points behind. I campaigned without means, without big donors”. For the Clinton, which in Iowa had a much more structured and vast organizational machine, the draw is already a bad sign.
