Smoking seriously harms your wallet as well as your health, and unfortunately for smokers the situation is bound to get worse with the new year. From January 2015, XNUMX, taxes will go up cigarettes: the increase, linked to a new increase in excise duties approved in early December by the Council of Ministers, will be between twenty and forty cents and will mainly concern packages costing up to 4 euros and 40 cents.
The brands with the lowest prices will be the most affected, while for the more expensive cigarettes the variations will be minimal. The 4-euro packs, for example, should go up to 4 euros and 15 cents, but it is not said that the producers decide to pass all the increase on the final price of the product.
On electronic cigaretteson the other hand, the Government accepted the conditions set by the Finance Commissions of the Chamber and Senate, inserting in the legislative decree an increase in the tax discount of up to 50%. It is a pity, however, that the prices of e-cig vials are destined to rise, since the Ministry of the Economy has imposed a tax of 3,33 euros on 10 milliliter refills.
A levy that according to Anafe, the association of e-cig producers, will lead to 100% increases in retail prices. However, the new tax is provisional, as it is linked to the assumption, to be demonstrated, that each refill milliliter is equivalent to five traditional cigarettes. The Monopolies Agency should shortly provide more precise data.
News coming also for i matches: the consumption tax is abolished and the market is liberalized both in terms of production and sales. Finally, regarding i tobacconists, in municipalities with up to 2 inhabitants, the minimum requirements for the establishment of "licences" for the sale of tobacco in public establishments will be adjusted downwards.
