Petrol price rises above 1,7 euros per litre

However, the January-February two-month period saw a slight recovery in fuel consumption (which collapsed during the crisis years) with a small +0,4%. “The increase in consumption is very limited”, comments Gian Primo Quagliano, president of the Centro Studi Promotor “but the signal is positive and should be underlined.

On the other hand, there are no elements to evaluate whether the reduction in fuel prices is also positively influencing the sales of motor vehicles. However, registrations increased by 10,9% in January and by 13,2% in February”.

In detail, the consumption of petrol and diesel for cars in January and February 2015 totaled 5,793 billion liters with a cost of 8,193 billion euro, against 9,592 billion in the two months of 2014 (-14,6%). From the point of view of the tax authorities, the decrease in revenue was 243 million euros.
