On Wednesday 20 April 2016, cigarette prices saw yet another increase. Many brands have recorded a price increase of 20 cents per pack following the increase in excise duties on tobacco that took effect in January 2016. In particular, the prices of some of the best-selling cigarettes have risen: Marlboro 100s, Marlboro Gold, Chesterfield Blue and Red, Diana Blue and Red, Merit Soft, Muratti Blue and Red and Philip Morris Blue. The April 2016 cigarette price increase was largely in both 10 and 20 packs.
For clarity, we report below the prices of the most common cigarettes (in alphabetical order), as they result from the State Monopolies tables updated to 20 April 2016. We refer to the rigid packs of 20.

As for chopped tobacco and cigars, for the moment the prices have not been changed, but it is foreseeable that in the coming months there will also be increases for these products.
From 2006 to 2016, cigarette prices rose by an average of 25%.
