In October, according to Istat price monitoring, inflation grew by 0,6% on a monthly basis and by 3,4% on an annual basis. The data respected the estimates. It is the highest since 2008.
Consumer prices have changed significantly also due to the increase to 21% of the VAT rate. Core inflation, calculated net of energy goods and unprocessed foodstuffs, rose from 2,4 in September to 2,5 in October. The sector that most sustained the dynamics of the index is that of energy, which grew cyclically by 1,8%. The prices of the most frequently purchased products increased by 0,7% compared to September.
