Tax burden, Draghi: "In 2022 it will drop by 0,4%, the most significant reduction in the last 6 years"

At the CISL congress, the Premier admitted that "much remains to be done in terms of worker safety" and hoped to be able to strengthen collaboration with the trade unions

Tax burden, Draghi: "In 2022 it will drop by 0,4%, the most significant reduction in the last 6 years"

“We expect that the tax burden this year will drop by 0,4 percentage points compared to last year: it is the largest reduction in the last six years”. The prime minister said, Mario Draghi, speaking at confederal congress of the CISL.

In terms of work, “much still remains to be done, starting with worker safety – added the Premier – I want to remember, once again, the people who lost their lives while working, over 1.200 in 2021 alone. To their families, to their colleagues, I express the most heartfelt closeness of the Government and my own. With the active collaboration of you trade unions, we have intervened to strengthen the control system and make it more participatory. Strengthening inspection activities, however, is not enough. Companies must carry out training, maintenance and prevention activities. It is a theme of civilization, which qualifies a democracy”.

Draghi: "I hope that collaboration with the unions can continue to strengthen"

Draghi then made an appeal to the unions: "I want to thank CGIL, CISL, UIL and the secretaries Landini, Sbarra and Bombardieri, for the spirit of loyal and frank collaboration, which I hope it will strengthen further in the coming months. Since taking office, the Government has sought and, I would say, very often found dialogue with the trade unions. We did it because good industrial relations have been essential in some of the most difficult moments in our history. I think first of all of the Ciampi Pact of 1993 which made Italy stronger and more competitive, and which combined economic growth, protection of rights, defense of workers' wages”.

The prime minister then quoted Franco Marini, "a great general secretary of the CISL: as he said in his inaugural speech to the presidency of the Senate, 'the strength of a mature democracy, like ours, also lies in knowing how to agree together on decisions and the best choices for our country'. In March of last year, with Minister Brunetta we signed the Pact for the innovation of public work, which inaugurated a method of comparison starting from the themes of work organization and professional training. In May, Minister Bianchi promoted the School pact, with which the Government undertook to enhance the school staff and invest in the safety of the institutions”.

Draghi then recalled the collaboration with the unions “for the management of the pandemic. The agreements on the protocols against Covid-19 and on company vaccinations have allowed us to reopen the country faster, to restart the economy safely. We cooperate in the implementation of the National recovery and resilience plan, thanks to the Permanent Table for Economic, Social and Territorial Partnership. An essential tool to best implement the reforms and investments that serve the country and in particular for young people, women, the South. This non-exhaustive list demonstrates that the results achieved by the Government are the product of a method that we wanted to implement together”.
