"Exports are the lever for Italian growth“. Today, the presentation of the national export plan for the three-year period 2012-2015, elaborated by the ICE agency, chaired by Riccardo Monti, started from this statement by the Minister of Economic Development Corrado Passera. Prime Minister Mario Monti was also present at the event.
The objective of the plan is to bring, to its completion, Italian exports at 620 billion euros, an increase of about 145 billion compared to 2012, the year in which Italy exported, according to the latest estimates, goods and services for a total of 473 billion euros, with strong growth in emerging countries.
Obviously, the forecasts and objectives contained in the Plan are subject to change and will have to be re-evaluated above all in the light of the next government. Minister Passera, after recalling the initiatives of the Monti government aimed at strengthening exports, spoke of the trade balance for 2012 which, according to the most recent estimates, should show a "surplus of 10 billion". Then the minister applauded the entrepreneurs: "our shares of the international market have been defended thanks to their work".
