Today at 11.30 at the Circolo della Stampa in Milan the book published by the Mill "The International Challenge of the Comit" written by Carlo Brambilla, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, Andrea Manzella, and Romano Prodi was presented. The presentation will be by Marco Onado, professor of Law and Economics of Financial Markets and Comparative Financial Systems at Bocconi University and Alberto Quadrio Curzio, professor emeritus of Political Economy at the Catholic University of Milan.

The event was attended by the authors Carlo Brambilla, professor of Economic History at the University of Insubria and Andrea Manzella, director of the Center for Studies on Parliament at the Luiss University. The meeting will conclude with a speech by Romano Prodi, former president of IRI, of the European Commission and of the Italian Council of Ministers, and currently a professor at Brown University and at CEIBS in Shanghai and president of the UN-African Union working group for peacekeeping missions in Africa.

It used to be said that for Italians abroad there were two fixed points: the embassies and the Comit, the latter being the undisputed presence for our businesses opening up to markets across the border. The book "Comit's International Challenge" is an exciting reconstruction of the events of a large public bank, Banca Commerciale Italiana, at the dawn of the globalization process. The volume tries to clarify the reasons for the successes and failures of the bank's international strategy in a period of crucial changes for the Italian economic and political history. In particular, with regard to the XNUMXs and later, the book examines the failed acquisition of Irving Bank in the USA and the privatization of Mediobanca.
