Booking Covid vaccines: here's how

Some Italian regions have started booking anti-Covid vaccines for the elderly over 80, but it is not easy to find your way around, because the administrations move in random order. Lazio e Campania reservation systems have been activated these days, as has the autonomous province of Trento. The one of Bolzano, on the other hand, has begun vaccinating the over-80s for a few weeks already, while other Regions have not yet communicated any official date. In Lombardia, the junta has only announced that the procedure will not be activated before 25-26 March.

After the vaccination of healthcare personnel, employees and guests of the RSA, the expansion of operations to the older age group marks the start of the real mass campaign. The first categories were easy to reach - because they were located within well-known structures - while now the most difficult challenge from a logistical point of view begins: given that the vaccine is not mandatory, the population must be guaranteed the possibility of booking on a voluntary basis . Yeah, but how? The easiest way, in theory, is the internet.

In Lazio the Region has prepared a dedicated site, which, however, almost immediately reported technical problems caused by the high number of people trying to log in at the same time. Despite the difficulties, Lazio still remains the first among the large regions to start with the mass campaign: after a week of bookings, vaccinations will begin on Monday 8 February.

In Campania, where to book administration to the over-80s has been active since Saturday 30 January: to register you need to enter the tax code, the health card number, an e-mail address and a telephone number. Contacts will be used for summons at vaccination points. The vaccinations will start between February 10 and 15 (a precise date has not yet been indicated) and the vaccination of all 320 Campanians over the age of 80 should take between two and three months.

As for the other Regions, there are not many that have already indicated a date: Monday 8th we should leave in Puglia, Umbria e Valle d'Aosta, Tuesday 9 at Friuli Venezia Giulia. Meanwhile, in Liguria has announced that administrations to the over-80s will begin on February 15th.

A separate discussion applies to Sicilia, Marche, Calabria e Abruzzo, where Poste Italiane's IT platform for tracking and administering vaccines for Covid-19 is already active. In these Regions - explained Matteo Del Fante, CEO of the group - the vaccination, when it is open to all those who request it after the first phase dedicated to protected categories, can be booked by citizens online (the information will be available on the website set up by the Government), through the call center, at Postamat ATMs inserting the health card or using the PDAs supplied to the postmen.
