Art prize in support of young people: 2014, the call for the Griffin Prize opens on 6 January

From 6 January to 15 April 2014, the call for participation in the Griffin Prize 2014 is open, established with the aim of promoting the talent of under 35 artists working in Italy, and students of advanced artistic training schools, whose research is expressed through of painting and drawing.

From 6 January to 15 April 2014 The call for entries is open Griffin Award 2014, established with the aim of promoting the talent of under 35 artists working in Italy, and students of advanced artistic training schools, whose research is expressed through painting and drawing.

Il Griffin Award, now in its second edition, is conceived by Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Conté à Paris and promoted by Colart Italiana SpA, with the patronage of GAI – Young Italian Artists and the Bocconi University of Milan.

The candidates' works will be screened by a international jury, chaired by Ivan Quaroni – art critic and curator – and composed by Flavio Arensi – art critic and curator, Olivier Dupuy – founder Les Ateliers du Plessix Madeuc in France, Matthew Lorenzelli – owner of the Lorenzelli Arte gallery in Milan, Rebecca Pelly Fry – director of the Griffin Gallery in London, Severino Salvemini – full professor of Business Organization and president of the Bocconi University Art Committee in Milan.

The Griffin Award is divided into two distinct categories:

The first is reserved for emerging artists of any nationality, residing in Italy, who graduated, in 2009 or later, from an academy of fine arts or an institute of artistic training.

The second, a and students of any nationality who are attending a regular course of study in the Italian fine arts academies or in a post-high school artistic training institute.

Participants must present a free-themed work of painting, graphics and drawing made with any technique and on any medium.

Among all the candidates will be chosen 10 finalist who will be able to exhibit their works during a group show scheduled for June at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan.

The winners of the category Emerging artists they will be rewarded with a 3-month art residency in France at “Les Ateliers du Plessix Madeuc” and with a collective exhibition at the Griffin Gallery in London and a rich endowment of professional material for fine arts (to the value of 1500 Euros).

Those of the category Art students, with a personal exhibition, from November 2014 to January 2015, at the Bocconi University in Milan, with the creation of a work in favor of the organizing company of the Griffin Award which will become part of the collection of the Colart Italiana SpA company, to be exhibited in group exhibitions and with a personal catalog and a rich endowment of professional material for the fine arts (for a value of 1500 Euros).
