Premafin, Ligresti sentenced to 5 years in prison

Conviction in the first instance for market manipulation on Premafin securities to the Sicilian finance

Premafin, Ligresti sentenced to 5 years in prison

The Court of Milan sentenced Salvatore Ligresti, former number one of Premafin, to five years in prison and a 100 euro fine for market manipulation of Premafin shares.

In addition to Ligresti, the former real estate developers Giancarlo de Filippo and Niccolò Lucchini were sentenced respectively to 4 years and a fine of 80 euros and a fine of 3 years and a 60 euros.

The Milan judges also ordered the confiscation of the Unipol Sai shares, already seized, and 250 euro compensation to Consob.

Ligrsti's new sentence in the first instance adds to the six-year sentence imposed on him, also in the first instance, by the Court of Turin for false accounting and information rigging.

Given the slowness of justice (there are still appeals and the Cassation) and given his advanced age, Ligresti will probably never go to jail, but he has in fact already had the conviction, both in terms of reputation and in the loss of the group which he had built
