Withdrawals at tobacconists, Banca 5 extends the service

Banca 5, the proximity bank of Intesa Sanpaolo focused on instant banking through tobacconists, enriches its offer thanks to technology, making it increasingly widespread throughout the country. The novelty was presented in Turin on the occasion of the START to be SMART event, and provides that some services, such as the possibility for Intesa Sanpaolo customers to make cash withdrawals of small sums from tobacconists (the service is free until of this year, then a commission of 2 euros will start), either accessible even in smaller municipalities, often penalized by the increasingly scarce presence of financial operators.

In fact, with the new Start offer, through the use of Smart-POS, many tobacconists located in areas with reduced foot traffic will be able to join the Banca 5 network, providing the transactional products of the Intesa Sanpaolo group and at the same time offering services of high social interest. To date, there have been over 5 million cash withdrawals at Banca 1 tobacconists for a total of over 100 million euros withdrawn, with an average of approximately 9 transactions per day and 90 euros per transaction. The new technological platform, based on the concept of mobility and flexibility of use (Smart-POS), therefore makes its debut on the European market with Banca 5 thanks to one of the leading operators in the sector, Pax Global Technology Limited - a Chinese company specializing in the design and development of EFTPOS terminals.

The new terminals will have pre-installed - in addition to the transactional services such as withdrawals, top-ups of telephone SIMs, prepaid cards and the Trenitalia ticket office - also the end-to-end management software (from orders to sales) supplied by Logista, a company leader in the distribution of tobacco in Italy, and, through Terzia, also of convenience products. “The new technological solution in partnership with PAX and which will also host the management software of Logista Italia represents a fundamental step in the path of constant innovation of the service model aimed at our customers – he comments Salvatore Borgese, Chief Business Officer of Banca 5 – As the first Italian open proximity bank, in fact, we are able to combine the great value of a "social" service, such as withdrawals, with characteristics of innovation, proximity and convenience, creating a model that is within reach and within everyone's reach . In fact, this model of offer will enable our collaborators to adopt a new method of 'smart mobility working' by providing multiple services on the move, such as withdrawals, prepaid and telephone top-ups, ticketing and contactless acquiring services".
