Prato, on Saturday 12 April Palazzo Pretorio reopens with its masterpieces

For too long Prato has been deprived of Praetorian Palace and of the masterpieces of his Museum's collection, also losing his awareness and pride: from Saturday 12 April the people of Prato and tourists will finally be able to admire once again a heritage of beauty, built over centuries of history.

Masterpieces of Bernardo Daddi, Giovanni da Milano, Lorenzo Monaco Filippo and Filippino, del Poppi, Alessandro Allori and Santi di Tito, Battistello Caracciolo and Cecco Bravo, Lorenzo Bartolini, will be enhanced by the new layout designed by the architects Adolfo Natalini, Piero Guicciardini and Marco Magni: they have best interpreted the needs of quality and flexibility required by the municipal administration, also highlighting the beauty of the building.
The world of culture and tourism thus finds a fundamental destination for those visiting Tuscany.

The exhibition itinerary will also be traced by the particular fabrics used: a reference to the classic materials of historical installations and at the same time the symbol of Prato. The colors identified correspond to unusual and surprising nuances, contained and calibrated in relation to the nature of the exhibited works, which are full of colour.

There will be no shortage of information and communication equipment, thanks to multimedia tools, placed in obvious but non-invasive positions. There will also be highly suggestive video projections on the history of Palazzo Pretorio and in homage to the Sacred Girdle, with the virtual reconstruction of the frescoes by Agnolo Gaddi in the Duomo.
Not only. Alongside the paintings and sculptures that are the city's heritage, the Pretorio will be able to host other exhibitions, therefore new opportunities for culture and discovery, thanks to the network of collaborations established with museums of primary importance.

Roberto Cenni, Mayor of Prato, in announcing the imminent reopening of Palazzo Pretorio states: "Giving the Praetorium back to the city was one of our priorities: for too long the people of Prato had been deprived of this extraordinary building and of the treasures of the Museum's collection . Many have worked with passion towards this goal, starting with the staff of the culture and public works departments Roberto Caverni, public works department councilor The city can and must cultivate the ambition of being a beautiful place to discover and visit: the exhibition on the Renaissance completed three months ago was a great confirmation of this".

“Palazzo Pretorio – comments Anna Beltrame, councilor for culture – thus returns to being the treasure chest of the city, the fulcrum of its cultural life, but also the magnificent place in which to dream and build the strength of a new hope for Prato”.
