Post office, profits down but revenues up

The group ended 2014 with a profit of 212 million, down from the billion of the previous year: the result was affected in particular by the devaluation of the stake in Alitalia - Total revenues rose from 26 to 29 billion.

Declining profits for Poste Italiane in 2014. The group chaired by Luisa Todini achieved net profits of 212 million (1.005 million the previous year). The result was influenced by the lower operating profitability, the devaluation of the stake in Alitalia Cai and the higher incidence of taxes (the tax rate, ie the impact on profits, rose from 34% to 70%).

Total revenues rise to 29 billion (from 26). The operating profit of 691 million (1.400 in 2013) was affected by the reduction in mail volumes and higher extraordinary expenses, equal to 242 million, for the transformation, envisaged in the business plan, also in view of the forthcoming privatisation. Revenues from express delivery and parcels are on the rise, up 13,8% at the parent company level on the previous year, thanks to the growth of e-commerce.
