Poste Italiane strengthens in Anima and rises to 24,9%

Poste Italiane thus becomes the reference shareholder of the holding which, after the merger, will have approximately 145 billion in assets under management.

While the Pioneer project fades, Poste chooses the path of strengthening the alliance with Anima Holding which, by mid-2017, will merge BancoPosta Fondi Sgr. Following this transaction, the company led by Francesco Caio will increase its stake in Anima by 14,6% to 24,9% of the share capital, thus becoming the reference shareholder of the holding which will have approximately 145 billion lire following the merger of assets managed.

BancoPosta, as at 30 September 2016, managed around 75 billion in assets, while at the end of 2015 the net profit amounted to around 20 million. Anima, the largest independent asset management company in Italy, held around 30 billion euro of assets under management as at 2016 September 71, with a net profit as at 31 December 2015 of around 127 million. It should be recalled that the Poste Italiane alliance with Anima began in May 2015 with a 10% stake in the capital and an agreement to develop funds designed to offer citizens, Poste Italiane customers, savings instruments with a return and risk transparent and tailored to their needs. The shares of Poste and Anima, in Piazza Affari, around 13 pm, recorded different performances, with the company led by Caio down slightly to -45% while the Milanese holding dropped 0,34%.

The Poste Italiane press release follows the news that Unicredit has granted Amundi exclusive rights for the Pioneer negotiation. In fact, Poste and Anima were part of a larger consortium in the running for the purchase of the asset of the bank in Piazza Gae Aulenti.
