Poste Italiane and SIA have signed an agreement that allows debit card and Postepay card holders to save money when shopping, thanks to the new "Extra Discounts" app. “Extra Discounts” is based on an innovative digital marketing service developed by Ubiq, a startup
recently acquired by SIA, which through the cash-back mechanism allows consumers to receive money in their current account for each purchase made in the points of sale of large-scale distribution of products of the brands present in the "showcase" of the Extra Discounts App.
This new digital initiative is part of the Sconti BancoPosta loyalty program which since its launch has credited cardholders with over 80 million euros in cash-back discounts and intends to further expand the possibilities for BancoPosta cardholders to save money in a simple and immediate way every time they go shopping, choosing a product among those recommended in the Extra Discounts App. There are 24 million BancoPosta cards and they include debit cards and Postepay.
The new Extra Discounts application uses a system, proprietary and patented by Ubiq, which exploits a unique technology for recognizing the data contained in the so-called "talking" till receipts (those typical of large-scale distribution which bear the name and address of the point of sale , the date of purchase and the details of the products, such as brand, format, variety, quantity and
price).
The operation of the App, which can be downloaded free of charge in the iOS version from the App Store or in the Android version from Google Play, is very simple: "Extra Discounts" offers regular updates with the "showcase" of promotional products on which a discount is recognized in cash back; after having purchased one or more products among those on promotion, in any shop that issues "talking" receipts, the customer must photograph and send the receipt via the Extra Discounts App.
After the information on the receipt has been processed, the discounts accrued with "Extra Discounts" will automatically be combined with those of the BancoPosta Discounts initiative and will be credited to the BancoPosta account or Postepay card when the accumulated discounts reach 5 euros. The new Extra Discounts service will soon also be accessible via the BancoPosta App and the Postepay App (which have around 7,4 million downloads).
