Poste Italiane buys 70% of the Marconi family's Plurima healthcare logistics company

Poste Italiane signed an agreement with Opus, a Marconi family company, and with the private equity operator Siparex to acquire the majority of plural, a logistics company. The consideration paid is based on an overall enterprise value of the company equal to 130 million.

The transaction will be carried out through Poste Welfare Servizi, a wholly owned subsidiary of Poste Italiane, and will be financed entirely with available cash resources. PWS will hold 70% of Plurima's share capital, while the Marconi family will retain 30%. Luca Marconi will be confirmed as executive chairman of the company.

Plurima is a leading company active in Italy in hospital logistics and in document custody and management services for public and private hospitals. Operating through 41 logistics facilities and a fleet of approximately 300 vehicles, Plurima generated approximately 57 million in revenues and approximately 10 million in EBITDA in 2021.

"Our strategy includes a focus on the contract logistics business with the aim of completing the transition to a wide-ranging logistics model - commented Matthew Del Fante, managing director and general manager of Poste Italiane – Plurima will accelerate this path, guaranteeing access to new business opportunities linked to a greater trend towards outsourcing of logistics and hospital micro-logistics. We will leverage the experience we have gained with the Covid-19 vaccine delivery and booking platform, as well as the consolidated relationships with public administrations".

The closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of the Antitrust and is expected by the end of the first half of 2022.
