The MEF (ministry of the economy) has conferred 35% of Poste Italiane to CDP (Cassa depositi e prestiti) through a reserved capital increase of 2,93 billion euros.
If the situation on the financial markets permits, the Mef then aims to place the remaining 29,7% of Poste in its portfolio on the Stock Exchange, thus respecting the objective that it set itself in the privatization plan while indirectly maintaining public control of the postal company led by Francesco Caio through the CDP, of which the MEF will hold 82,8%.
The CDP, chaired by Claudio Costamagna, has also decided to cut sharply by 10% of the net profits distributed annually to the shareholders, which are the Treasury and the banking foundations.
