Poste and Eni together for digital and financial services to customers

Poste Italiane and Eni have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the launch of a wide-ranging partnership in the digital field. The non-binding cooperation agreement also regards financial services and was signed on the one hand by Poste Italiane and Poste Pay and on the other by Eni, Eni Refining & Marketing, Eni gas and electricity. The two companies communicate this.

The partnership - underlines the joint note - "represents a first significant tool for integrating and enhancing the assets of Eni and Poste. It fits into a multi-business logic that concerns both the supply of fuel at Eni service stations and that of gas and electricity, through the activation of innovative financial services linked to payment systems, within the scope of the opportunities offered by the European Directive PSDII , and has as its main objective the offer to retail customers of an increasingly extensive range of new service and payment solutions”.

The agreement aims to enhance, on the one hand, the over 26 million debit and prepaid cards of the Poste Italiane group in circulation in Italy, on the other the 4.300 Eni service stations, through which an average of one million people transit per day, as well as the eight million Eni gas and electricity customers, who generate 41 million bills a year and count on 150 Energy Store points of sale.

In particular, Poste Italiane and Eni will evaluate some initiatives to ensure customers maximum security and simplicity in the execution of transactions in physical and digital mode. It will be a question of evaluating various financial services options, such as for example payment of pre-printed bills and cash withdrawals in combination with the dispensing of fuel. Furthermore, Poste Italiane and Eni gas and electricity could experiment with new systems in the future bill reporting using blockchain technology, while new functions are already active for refunds to Eni gas and electricity customers through the entire Poste Italiane network.
