The anniversary falls in a dramatic phase, for the whole country as for the company itself, but it must still be celebrated: Poste Italiane turns 158 and in 2020 it will be the largest service distribution network in Italy. Not only the traditional mail but now everything: from financial services to parcels, from telecommunications to insurance. The company, now led by Matteo Del Fante and listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in the FtseMib, has a network of over 12.800 post offices, around 130 employees, 536 billion euros in total financial assets and 35 million customers.

"In keeping with its 158 years of activity - Poste Italiane says in a celebratory statement -, today as yesterday the history of Poste Italiane and its 130.000 workers is thus intertwined with that of Italy. With its letter carriers, Post Offices, with the collection of savings that has allowed the creation of the great works that have modernized Italy, Poste Italiane is today a point of reference for all citizens as it was in the last century, as as creator of the unitary mission that aimed to "make Italians". In the presence of restrictive measures necessary to combat the epidemic, the women and men who work in Poste Italiane have worked to implement all the measures aimed at protecting personal and customer safety and health, guaranteeing continuity of a service essential to the life of the country".

“Innovative formulas have been launched in the field of work organization and effective solutions have been prepared for safely provide all essential services for citizens, guaranteeing special attention to the most fragile and needy social categories", concluded the note.
