Poste buys its first foreign company: it is Chinese

Poste Italiane he bought 51% of Sengi Express Limited, a logistics company based in Hong Kong that works with Chinese companies that export via e-commerce to the Italian market. The transaction is part of a binding agreement between Poste and Cloud Seven Holding, wholly owned Sengi Express. The goal is strengthen the alliance between Italy and China in the e-commerce market.

Sengi Express made in 2020 a pro-forma turnover of around 80 million euro. The acquisition of the majority by Poste should be completed by the first quarter of 2021.

"For the first time – reads a note – a foreign company will become part of the Poste Italiane Group, contributing to the group's consolidated results”. The company also specifies that "the logistics companies of the Poste Italiane Group1 will continue to be the suppliers of Sengi Express's reference logistics services for Italy".

This operation “reinforces the group's strategy aimed at improving the customer experience – he comments Matthew Del Fante, managing director and general manager of Poste Italiane – and has the objective of developing and retaining the flow of e-commerce shipments. This is an historic milestone in the process of opening Poste Italiane to international markets, thanks to the entry of a foreign company into the Group. With this agreement, we are further diversifying our revenues, also geographically, and are pursuing our growth strategy through alliances in the most promising business areas".

Secondo Nelly Han, sole director of Cloud Seven Holding Limited, "this operation is the natural evolution of the partnership" which for some years has linked the Chinese group to Poste Italiane, of which it offers, "with pride and success, the services to our customers in China. We are very happy - continues Han - to become part of an important group, listed on the Stock Exchange, and we are sure that we will successfully face this stimulating challenge".

Mid-morning the stock on the Poste Exchange gains 1,5%, to 8,434 euros. In the same minutes, the Ftse Mib travels up by 0,75%.
