Popolare di Bari, investigation for Tercas closed

The Gip of the Bari court accepted the dismissal request presented by the prosecutor: no criminal association behind the two capital increases decided by the top management of the Popular Bank of Bari as part of the acquisition of the Group Tercas, the savings bank of Teramo.

The conduct in question, reads the note from the judiciary, "cannot be considered activities instrumental to the indiscriminate commission of several crimes of aggravated fraud".

The investigation had been opened after the complaint of a former official of the Apulian bank, later reported for attempted extortion by the group led by Marco Jacobini.

Popolare di Bari, a group that has almost 400 branches throughout Italy, was initially accused of having proceeded with the merger by incorporation of Tercas despite being in a risky and unsafe financial situation.

To date, with the closure of the investigation, the matter would seem to have been resolved in favor of Popolare di Bari.
