Popolare Bari, the Observatory for members makes its debut

The BoD of Banca Popolare di Bari approved, as anticipated on 8 August, the establishment of an "Observatory on the institutional and market context". The Observatory is made up of three members, prof. Canio Trione, Dr. Lorenzo Gorgoni and prof. Giovanni Ferri, who are autonomous and independent from the bank. He will specifically deal with all issues concerning relations with shareholders, but also with initiatives aimed at improving the liquidity of shares, promoting specific actions that will have the objective of recovering value for the entire shareholding structure.

The observatory will be able to be updated on the industrial strategies of Pop Bari, without neglecting the scenarios of possible mergers between cooperative banks. Among the observatory's other prerogatives is the proactive one which will allow its three members to present proposals to the Board of Directors of the Apulian bank to improve the relationship between the bank, consumer associations and members. Furthermore, the BoD, in agreement with the Committee for the Protection of Shareholders of Banca Popolare di Bari, has decided to extend to 31 December 2019 the deadline for being able to adhere to the "Memorandum of Understanding for the Implementation of a Conciliation Procedure".

The initiative has already received the initial support of Adiconsum, Adusbef, Assoconsum, Codacons, Confconsumatori, Lega Consumatori, Unione Nazionale Consumatori and, subsequently, that of the Praesidium association. In this regard Banca Popolare di Bari had allocated a special ceiling of 3,5 million euro to make the protocol operational and functional. In the coming months, the bank, with a view to dialogue and effective collaboration with the main associations adhering to the protocol, will develop further measures aimed at its members.
