Pop Vicenza and Veneto Banca towards the sale of Arca Sgr and Bim

Necessary operations in view of the merger - A key project in the dialogue with the ECB on the amount of the capital increase that Eurotower will request

Pop Vicenza and Veneto Banca towards the sale of Arca Sgr and Bim

The bank People of Vicenza e Veneto Bank, owned almost entirely by the Atlante fund, will have to sell some of their holdings before merging into a single institution. In particular, Arca Sgr and Bim (Banca Intermobiliare di Investimenti e Gestioni) should end up on the market, two particularly attractive assets because the asset management sector is the one everyone is betting on, in an era in which the profitability of banks is given by management fees. Corriere della Sera writes it today.

The disposals are essential in the dialogue with the ECB on the amount of thecapital increase that the Eurotower will ask. So far there has been talk of about three billion, but before rumors about the 2016 accounts came out, which speak of a redundancy of 1,8 billion for Popolare di Vicenza and about one billion for Veneto Banca.

In detail, both Popolare di Vicenza and Veneto Banca hold 19% of Ark Sgr, interests in which Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna, already the first shareholder with 37%, and Anima Sgr, which had already presented an offer in December 2015, are interested.

As for Bim, of which Veneto Banca holds 71,4%, its fate now seems marked. Alessandro Penati, president of Quaestio, which manages the Atlante fund, announced it two months ago: "We aim to spin-off Bim from Veneto Banca and have direct control over it".
