Pop. Vicenza and Veneto Banca rely on the Government: "Hurry up"

No twist to the board of directors of Banca Popolare di Vicenza which heard the report by CEO Fabrizio Viola on the recent meetings with the European Commission and with the Minister of Economy, Pier Carlo Padoan, on the recapitalization of the institution which it is essential to its rescue.

The board of directors confirmed the validity of the restructuring plan, but reiterated that its execution "as quickly as possible" is essential.

The Board also took note of Minister Padoan's reassurances on the possible rapid conclusion of the authorization procedure for the precautionary recapitalization by Brussels. Precisely for this reason, the Vicenza board of directors has decided to reconvene shortly and will hold a new meeting on Tuesday morning to evaluate whether or not concrete signals have been received from the government.

Precisely in relation to the capital increase requested by the EU, the board of the Popolare di Vicenza finally asked for a definitive answer from the Atlante fund regarding its participation after the president of the Cariplo Foundation, Giuseppe Guzzetti, had categorically excluded an involvement in the new funding: “I've said it over and over again. So the Foundations won't even be willing to participate in a possible recapitalization of the Atlante Fund? 'Absolutely not, we no longer put in one euro', Guzzetti reiterated.

The line of Cariverona is softer, which however in the past has not participated in the establishment of the Atlante Fund and therefore has not lost places because of the two Venetian banks: "There will have to be a well-constructed project and then we will see, but in short, we believe we have done our part." This was stated by the president of the Cariverona Foundation, Alessandro Mazzucco, in an interview with Radiocor Plus.

In the meantime, the board of Veneto Banca is still underway, which will presumably come to the same conclusion.
