Pop Vicenza and Veneto Banca: flood of amendments on the decree

(Teleborsa) The approval of the decree law for the rescue of the Veneto banks is still an uphill battle despite the text being "armored", due to the agreements made by the Italian government with Brussels.

The text should be approved by Thursday in committee, for arrival in the Chamber on 10 July. Despite this, about 700 amendments have been presented, of which about half come from the 5 Star Movement. Times are tight and today the modification proposals will go through the admissibility judgment, to then move on to the vote tomorrow.

The provision also divides the Democratic Party, as demonstrated by the latest appeal by the Apulian governor Michele Emiliano, who spoke of an "invotable decree".

In a letter addressed to the government and his party, the exponent of the Democratic Party denounced that the provision "betrays savers, completely abandoning hundreds of thousands of small shareholders and subordinate bondholders to their fate, and imposes a burden on the State appalling and, in essence, largely unrecoverable.”
