"The machinery for the liquidation of the Strait of Messina Company has started and, according to the law, cannot be stopped". Vincenzo Fortunato, liquidator of the concession established in 1981 to build the bridge over the Strait, gave an interview to Radiocor.
Fortunato's appointment dates back to mid-March and was signed by the then owner of the Economy Vittorio Grilli. The liquidation procedure of the concessionary company started on March XNUMX, after the failure to sign the addendum requested by the Monti Government from the general contractor Eurolink, led by Impregilo, to verify the technical and financial feasibility of the work, in the absence of which it would contracts have been revoked.
Fortunato is preparing the company's liquidation plan. "Since the company falls into a public sector, the green light should come from the ministers," he said. The law gives one year to proceed with the liquidation: "Perhaps - Fortunato said - it will take something more because the dispute is substantial and does not concern only Eurolink". The general contractor led by Impregilo, according to rumors, is ready to ask for a maxi-indemnity of up to one billion euros. "But I haven't heard from them yet," Fortunato specified.
