Politecnico di Milano, the first business game is underway

Students are the engine of the university: a group of university students from the Milan Polytechnic and its School of Business organized the first edition of the "MIP Business Game", a international event where students from different parts of the world will compete in four competitions on four different business cases proposed by the partner companies of the project.

The event will be held in Milan on 25 and 26 October. Working together, students will be asked to find solutions to problems that managers of large companies face on a daily basis and present their ideas to a jury made up of business leaders who will judge their creativity and feasibility. At the end of the competition, the jury will decide the winner.

All participants were selected on the basis of their curriculum vitae and the score obtained in an online evaluation test. These are students from the third year of a bachelor's degree up to the last year of a master's degree with any type of university background, from engineering to law. 450 candidates from 79 universities in 40 different countries took part in the selection phases.

The project is part of “The Alliance of European Business Games”, a European network born in Brussels in 2014. The students of the Politecnico di Milano founded a non-profit association and decided to create their Business Game with the support and sponsorship of the university.

“An increasing number of students are looking for opportunities to grow both professionally and personally”. “MIPBG wants to become an annual appointment capable of creating value for enterprising students and for companies looking for new talent. Participation in a Business Game is an extremely educational experience that allows you to identify your strengths and weaknesses, giving you the opportunity to train the soft skills that are so much in demand in the world of work. Our goal is to allow an increasing number of international colleagues to take part in these events”, commented Antonio Monaco d'Arianello, coordinator of the event.

Supporting the event are the names of companies such as AbInBev, BNP Paribas, Boston Consulting Group, L'Oréal, Luxottica, Reply, SIA and UnipolSai Assicurazioni. These initiatives can be interesting for companies and represent an innovative way of selecting young people, combining the classic interview with new methodologies such as observing candidates under pressure, in situations similar to those they will have to face within a working context.
