Poletti: subsidy of 500 euros to unemployed in crisis areas

The government will allocate 370 million euros for interventions to extend social safety nets. The package will enter the Jobs act corrective decree which will arrive on the table of the Council of Ministers by 16 September at the latest. This was announced by the Minister of Labour, Giuliano Poletti, at the end of the meeting with the trade unions and representatives of the Regions. In recent days the minister had spoken of the possibility of raise minimum pensions.

Today Poletti specified that 235 million euros will be allocated for workers in areas of complex industrial crisis. "For workers in Cigs which is expected to end by 31 December 2016 - said the minister - there will be another 12 months at the most of extension of the Cigs, with an allocation of 85 million euros".

Furthermore, always for workers in crisis areas, “we predicted 500 euros per month for a maximum of 12 months for those workers who in 2016 concluded the use of social shock absorbers, from ASPI to mobility. The allocated resources – explained Poletti – will amount to 150 million euros”.

The subsidy of 500 euros per month will go to those workers who "make themselves available for relocation and the Regions will have to provide additional resources equal to at least 20 percent of those we provide", explained the minister. Those interested will be "35-40 workers".

Finally, they will be allocated 135 million euros for recurring seasonal workers in the tourism and spa sector. For this type of worker, throughout the national territory, there will be one more month than Naspi which will thus go from three to four months. "By recurring seasonal workers - said Poletti - we mean those who have worked at least three years out of the last four" at a seasonal level.
