Poletti: "Cig refinancing next week"

Discussion of the refinancing of the Cig by way of derogation from next week's Council of Ministers. This was announced by the Minister of Labor Giuliano Poletti in a speech on Radio Anch'io. “We have put the accounts in order – said the Minister – and now we will tackle the coverage of the 2014 requirement”.

Poletti: "Cig refinancing next week"

Next week the Council of Ministers will discuss the refinancing of the redundancy fund by way of derogation. This was stated by the Minister of Labor Giuloiano Poletti during a radio broadcast on Radio Anch'io. “We found ourselves with coffers to restore in 2013 and we shifted resources to pay. With an inherited situation - continues Minister Poletti - the thing we can do is bring the coverage of the 2014 requirement into the CDM, and start the discussion on the Cig as an exception".

In the draft decree of the Ministry of Labour, it established that the redundancy fund by way of derogation cannot last more than 8 months. For the period from 2015 to the end of 2016 it drops to 6 months, but apprentices will also be able to benefit. To benefit from the new Cig, it will be necessary to have a company service of at least 12 months. Only for 2014 the requirement is reduced to 8 months.

The news comes following the announcement by the trade unions of two principals, one held last July 22 in the regions of Northern Italy, while the second is underway in these hours - from 9,00 to 14,00 - in the regions of the Center South and islands (Lazio, Abruzzo, Campania, Puglia, Calabria, Basilicata, Molise, Sicily, Sardinia). The goal is to reach 1.500 participants, all of whom took to the streets with the aim of establishing new criteria for the Cig and mobility as an exception.

"Thousands of male and female workers risk being left without work and without any support due to the indifference of the Government", reads a note signed by the confederal secretaries of CGIL, CISL and UIL. A first objective therefore seems to have been achieved, with the announcement of the Minister of Labor to bring the issue of refinancing the redundancy fund to the table of the Council of Ministers.
