Poker, maxi escape on 73 million in winnings.

It was supposed to be a day of celebration for poker lovers with the inauguration of online cash, instead the finger is pointed at the winners accusing you of a maxi evasion of 73 million euros. The Agenzia delle Entrate and the Guardia di Finanza have monitored the winnings achieved abroad between 2006 and 2009, which it is feared have not been declared to the tax authorities by live poker players. In fact, the earnings earned through this activity are considered "different income" and therefore taxable in full.
The nationwide audit campaign has already revealed more than 4 Italian winners who have collected proceeds of over 97 million dollars (about 73 million euros at current exchange rates) not declared to the tax authorities. Winnings abroad, through the .com sites, weigh heavily: as they are already taxed in the country where they played, the winners are reluctant to pay taxes a second time. The exemption of winnings in Italian casinos, which are already taxed by the latter, seems to be less.
Some of the many poker players, who reside in Italy for tax purposes and who ask to participate in tournaments held abroad, having climbed various international rankings, are now recognized among the players as real reference stars.
The winners will be formally invited to go to the offices of the Revenue Agency and the Headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza which, with a view to a complete discussion, will offer ample opportunity to prove that they have nevertheless fulfilled their duty to pay, even if in different forms .
