Within the framework of Mission 2 “Green Revolution and Ecological Transition” they were awarded 19 million euros from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan to another 41 projects of the Hera group. 

The resources, informs Hera in a note, will be used to upgrade and digitize collection centers and 'intelligent' structures in about thirty Municipalities in Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Friuli Venezia-Giulia and “they will represent an important contribution to the development of the circular economy. The new funds will make it possible to optimize waste collection and urban hygiene services, making them increasingly innovative and efficient. ”, informs the company. 

Hera and the resources of the Pnrr

I 19 million At the beginning of the year, the Hera group was awarded Pnrr contributions for over 130 million euro - again as part of Mission 2 - to promote the circular economy, energy transition, decarbonisation and water protection of the territory, to which were added recently an additional 19,5 million for the Hydrogen Valley of Modena.

"Awarding these PNRR grants to the Hera Group's projects in the area of ​​environmental services represents further recognition of our commitment in the field of ecological transition, in line with the strategies envisaged in the business plan to 2026 and in line with the objectives of the Action plan for the circular economy of the European Union”, he comments Orazio Iacono, CEO of the Hera group. “With these new projects we will provide citizens with efficient and innovative services, we will allow Municipalities to achieve increasingly challenging separate collection percentages, promoting the reuse of environmental resources and thus also accompanying local communities towards more sustainable development”.

The 41 projects that have obtained more than 19 million euros from the PNRR

In particular, they amount to 14,6 million the PNRR funding awarded to Atersir to develop 35 Hera initiatives in Emilia-Romagna about: 

  • the opening of 8 new collection centers in the areas of Bologna, Modena, Ravenna and Cesena;
  •  the adaptation of 17 existing centres;
  •  the creation of 2 new underground islands in the municipalities of Cervia and Faenza and 2 above-ground islands in the municipality of Ravenna; 
  • the design, development and installation of 50 computerized “eco smarty” ecological islands in 18 municipalities in the Ravenna and Cesena areas; 
  • the installation of over a thousand "smarty" containers and 1.000 "camera traps" with innovative information systems and dedicated software for the municipalities of Ravenna and Cesena. 

Finally, about 4,6 million euros of PNRR funds were awarded in Friuli Venezia-Giulia and in Veneto for 6 projects of AcegasApsAmga, the subsidiary of the Hera Group operating in the Northeast.
