SMEs: the energy checkup starts. Here's how to save energy while protecting the environment

More and more hospitality businesses are using low energy light bulbs. 40% of them avoid wasting water by using sensors for dispensing, while separate waste collection has now become a daily operation for everyone. These are the data contained in the survey carried out by Unioncamere on a sample of 4 tour operators representing the sector. In order to further implement corporate sustainability and "measure" energy expenditure by adopting further cost containment policies, the European project PMI Energy CheckUp. An initiative, financed in collaboration with the European Commission whose objective is to encourage operators in the hotel, restaurant, bar, fast-food, retail sale of food and non-food products sectors to take energy efficiency actions. Traveling Infodays are planned to present the project to economic operators: the first appointment is today in Ancona, then Varese (October 3) and Monza (October 13). The Pmi Energy CheckUp program involves technical bodies in the energy sector and institutional bodies in representation and in close contact with the business world of Holland, Poland, Spain and Italy, under the coordination of a Dutch consultancy firm.

As far as Italy is concerned, the partnership is made up of Unioncamere as project manager and is carried out by the Chambers of Commerce of Ancona, Avellino, Cuneo, Monza and Brianza, Turin, Varese, Venice who will carry out the experimentation. Technical partner is Fire (Italian federation for the rational use of energy). How does the project work? A free analysis tool will be available online which will allow insiders to compare their consumption with that of similar companies and understand which measures to adopt in order to save energy, protect the environment and contain costs. The project puts a free analysis tool (energy scan) available online to compare their consumption with those of similar companies and learn about the measures to save energy, protect the environment and contain costs. The project is part of the framework of European measures for environmental sustainability, including EU Directive 27 of 2012 implemented in Italy with Legislative Decree 102/2014. Among other things, the latter provision provides for the first requirement by the end of the year for large companies and energy-intensive companies called upon to diagnose their own consumption of environmental resources.
