Plenitude, Descalzi: better conditions are needed for listing. If not in 2023, it will go to 2024, but it will

Plenitude, Descalzi: better conditions are needed for listing. If not in 2023, it will go to 2024, but it will

Nor will 2023 be the year of Plenitude's listing on the stock exchange, if a positive window does not open. Otherwise we will go to 2024. He said it Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni, on the occasion of the Sustainable Future Furum 2023 of Class Editori and Milano Finanza.
The idea of the listing of Plenitude, a company of the Eni group specialized in the marketing of gas and electricity and in renewables was born already last year with the intention of an IPO in June 2022. But then there were several postponements.
“When we had the roadshow with the investors, war broke out,” said Descalzi. “The conflict situation is still very uncertain, if there was a positive window we would already do it this year, otherwise next year. Plenitude is very strategic for us: going public means enhancing it and having additional resources to invest in the strategic renewable energy project".
Also last May, Eni, responding to shareholders he had confirmed the objective of listing Plenitude, specifying however that this will happen "when the conditions of the stock market are more favorable or less uncertain" and also in the case, as ENI had indicated, of the entry into the shareholding structure by institutional investors. Eni has never made a secret of betting heavily on Plenitude which can satisfy the market's hunger for investment in renewables. The objective that Eni has in mind for Plenitude is a market capitalization of 10 billion euros and even more.

Gas: Italy has won the storage challenge, we will replace 80% of Russian gas within the year

Descalzi today made a more general reference to the Italian situation: “The situation has improved, the stocks are almost full. Each EU country has a different energy mix: France has nuclear energy, Germany wind and coal” said the CEO. “And then there was a strong influx of gas from the United States and a rapid transition to the regasifiers. In Italy we did it with Piombino, and we were the fastest of all: for now we have replaced 50%, we will arrive at the end of the year with 80%".
“The situation of last year's sudden gas shortage has receded, but a country is never really calm if it doesn't have the resource it consumes the most. We as Eni have diversified both in terms of geography and in terms of access to energy: we imported from Russia, we explore in other countries. The gas that comes from these fields comes from Eni, and therefore Italy can have it without bad surprises”, he added, assuming that the price of oil will remain around 80 dollars a barrel.
