Pizzarotti bids farewell to the 5 Stars: "The movement has changed"

Chaos in Parma. The mayor of Parma abandons after months of being separated at home and the suspension decided by Beppe Grillo – “We didn't want to recompose a tear” – “I am a free man. I can't help but get out of this movement as it has become".

Pizzarotti bids farewell to the 5 Stars: "The movement has changed"

Federico Pizzarotti let the Movement 5 Stars. After a few months of being separated from home, the mayor of Parma, the first grillino to win the seat of a capital city, abandoned the movement, in open controversy with his top management: "I have to take this step because it is clear that we did not want to mend a rift ”, his first words, during a fiery press conference, during which Pizzarotti pointed his finger at the directorate of his now former party.

The mayor of Parma leaves the 5 stars after the suspension, decided via blog from Beppe Grillo, suffered following the notice of guarantee for abuse of office for the appointments of the Teatro Regio: "We are on the 144th day of an illegitimate suspension because it is not provided for by the regulations once we discussed on the net, now it has become a collection of signatures on the net of 3 subscribers. And then how do you know that they are subscribers?”.

Pizzarotti thanked Grillo, without whom "I would not have gotten off the sofa and I would not be here in front of you today and in front of my citizens", before clarifying the reason that distanced him from the movement: "I have always been a free man , I can't help but get out of this movement and what it has become".

“We have become – continued the mayor of Parma – those of practically appointed directors. We must not be grillini or more or less grillini than others, but autonomous people who want change. I have never accepted being afraid to say what I thought was right”.

For Pizzarotti, the Movement is no longer that of its origins: “We have gone from streaming everything and from deciding everything together to not streaming anything anymore. Streaming is no longer in fashion”. It's still: "I haven't changed, the Movement has changed. I am the only one who has remained critical. Once it was said that the M5S did not want to have a political leader, now it is said that a political leader is fine".

The future of the mayor of Parma still hangs in the balance, from a political point of view: “As far as I'm concerned, there is no decision on civic lists or anything else, or thoughts of future candidates in parliament or at the local level. I still have to decide whether to run again but this is not a surrender. The decision is mine and not that of the advising group”, clarified Pizzarotti, who is awaiting the reaction of the movement in these hours.

Will all the councilors elected under the starry code also leave M%S? There are those who are confident that for now they are not willing to change the name of the group, or that despite the farewell to Grillo, they want to continue to be called 'Movimento 5 Stelle'. A move also in response to the dissidents Nuzzo and Savani who, against the mayor, had broken away from the majority by forming the 'Movimento 5 Stelle Parma' group.

In short, chaos will reign supreme in Parma and it now seems clear that, beyond Pizzarotti's move, an intervention by the 5-star national leadership will still be needed to unravel the skein of who can really use the symbol of the movement. Pizzarotti's latest move to harness Beppe Grillo even more.
