Pitti Uomo closes with optimism: men's fashion emerges from the crisis

The Florentine event recorded a 7,6% increase in the turnout of foreign buyers compared to last January's edition – More contained growth (+2%) for Italian ones – From today the men's fashion shows in Milan get underway.

It really does feel like the crisis is receding, at least for menswear. The confirmation comes from the Pitti Uomo event which closes today: the almost definitive data indicate a large turnout of foreign buyers, increased by 7,6% compared to the last January edition, and a more contained growth than Italian ones (+2%). . The number of buyers should reach around 20 (12.500 Italians, 7.500 foreigners). The arrivals from Germany (+9,7%), Japan (+10,6%), Great Britain (+20,4%), Turkey (+25,6%) and the United States (+ 33,2%).

There is no doubt that foreign markets are once again proving to be the driving force behind the Italian one, whose recovery is very slow, but for the first time many exhibitors confirm that positive signals have also come from Italian buyers for clothing orders. The fact remains that the true consistency of orders, in general, will only be verified in a few days.

Tomorrow, however, the world of men's fashion moves to Milan: the four days of Milano Moda Uomo will kick off with the Corneliani fashion show: 84 collections, 39 fashion shows for 38 brands, 29 presentations and some returns to the catwalk: Trussardi, Enrico Coveri and Calvin Klein collection. To which is added a debut, that of Ports 1961. Furthermore, for the first time, Milan will give space to a group of emerging stylists, mostly Italian.

Unlike Florence where the range of offers is very broad, in Milan it will be above all the big names in international pret-à-porter to show the new collections for spring-summer 2012.
