Pirelli: "All commitments kept on Figline"

Pirelli intervenes on the controversy surrounding the sale of Bekaert, reiterating that it has maintained all the employment and commercial commitments agreed for the Figline Valdarno site

Pirelli: "All commitments kept on Figline"

Pirelli, contrary to what was reported by various media, specifies that it had no contact on Friday morning with the president of the Tuscany Region Enrico Rossi. The tire company also recalls, in a note, that “on the occasion of the sale of the steelcord business to Bekaert, it obtained special guarantees from the purchaser for the Figline factory: over 40 months of employment stability, more than what the institutions themselves had hoped for. All parties involved acknowledged that an excellent agreement had been reached for job protection”.

Pirelli therefore underlines that it has kept all the commitments made, also on the commercial front, going even beyond the agreements signed at the time of the sale. “As recently recalled, in fact, over the years the company has increased the overall volumes purchased by Bekaert, and therefore also by the Figline site, with prices never lower than market prices and with an increase for Bekaert in the value of the order. In respect of the autonomy of the parties involved, which it cannot influence in any way, Pirelli hopes that the latter can reach an agreement as soon as possible”, concludes the note.
