Pirelli: Prince of Wales visits Carlisle plant

The Prince of Wales visited the Carlisle plant, one of the two Pirelli plants in the United Kingdom, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

The Prince was received by the British Government's Commissioner for Trade for Europe, Andrew Mitchell; by the Italian ambassador to the United Kingdom, Raffaele Trombetta; by the executive vice president and chief executive officer of Pirelli, Marco Tronchetti Provera, together with various managers and Pirelli employees.

“It was an honor to welcome His Royal Highness to our Carlisle factory on the occasion of this important anniversary and thus celebrate the long-lasting and fruitful collaboration between Pirelli and the United Kingdom. It is a day that we will remember for a long time,” said Marco Tronchetti Provera.

For over 40 years, through apprenticeships, Pirelli has provided skilled employment opportunities in the Carlisle area.

The Pirelli plant in Carlisle is a center of excellence for tires for SUVs, with a focus on the premium and prestige segment, destined for both the local and foreign markets. Together with the Burton-on-Trent plant, born in 1929, Pirelli has over 1.300 employees in the United Kingdom, of which 900 in Carlisle.
