Pirelli first company to join the "Milanese library system"

To celebrate the event, a curious encounter between culture and haute cuisine is scheduled today in the Bicocca Headquarters

Pirelli first company to join the "Milanese library system"

Literature and haute cuisine meet today 20 November at 18.30 pm in the Pirelli Headquarters in an appointment organized to celebrate the anniversary of the opening of the two company libraries in Bicocca and Bollate and their imminent entry, first among the company libraries, into the System Milanese librarian. Protagonists of the dialogue on books and cooking, in a sort of "literary showcooking" organized as part of the week of Corporate Culture, will be the writer Alessandro Robecchi and the "host and cook" Filippo La Mantia.

The appointment will be an opportunity to tell Milan by retracing its transformations through an exhibition curated by the Pirelli Foundation thanks to the historical materials preserved in the company's historical archive and images taken from the magazine "Pirelli". From the "Pirellone", narrated by Dino Buzzati and illustrated by Jean-Michel Folon, to the photographic reportage by Arno Hammacher for the construction of the M1 subway. From fashion services between the Navigli and the State University, to the advertisements of the great Milanese designers who have collaborated with the company, such as the architect Alessandro Mendini and the graphic designer Bob Noorda, Dutch by origin but Milanese by adoption. And yet the Milan of migrants described in the articles and covers of the magazine "Pirelli", the Milan of exhibitions and Christo's artistic experiments in 1971. At the end of the meeting, open to the public, it will be possible to taste one of the famous chef's recipes Sicilian. Inaugurated in October 2016, the two new company libraries in the Milan-Bicocca headquarters and in the Bollate plant have been added to the Pirelli Industrial Park Library in Settimo Torinese and are part of a tradition that sees Pirelli open the first company library almost 90 years ago.

The new Pirelli corporate libraries in Bicocca and Bollate – just one year after opening – boast around 5 volumes including fiction bestsellers, history texts, non-fiction, art catalogs and children's books. But in the short term the volumes on which employees will be able to count will be many more: Pirelli will, in fact, be the first company in the Milan area to enter into an agreement with the Milan Library System, which will make it possible to share its assets consisting of over 1 million and a half of documents including books, multimedia, newspapers and magazines.
