Pirelli HangarBicocca presents "La Fabbrica Illuminata", an evening of music, in collaboration with the Milano Musica Festival, with pieces created by some of the most important composers of the second half of the twentieth century in the historic RAI phonology studio in Milan. The event, part of the Public Program | Lucius Fontana, will take place on Tuesday 20 February at 21 pm and closes the exhibition "Ambienti/Environments", dedicated to the great master of the history of contemporary art (last day 25 February), which in six months has recorded considerable success from part of the public and critics.

The concert represents an investigation into the encounter between technology, space and time, similar to what Lucio Fontana carried out with his art in those very years. The Rai musical phonology studio was born in Milan in 1955 by Luciano Berio and Bruno Maderna with the aim of enriching the contemporary musical experience with the possibilities of new means of analysis and treatment of sound. The experience of the Studio is inscribed in the formidable creative season – identifiable in the decade 1948/58 – in which Milan becomes the city where it is possible to experiment with a new conception of the relationship between the arts.

In the same way that Lucio Fontana places the viewer's perception at the center of the "creation" of the work itself, radically revolutionizing the relationship between work and space and between artist and audience, the musical research of Luciano Berio, Bruno Maderna, Luigi Nono and John Cage makes use of the technological means to broaden the frontiers of the relationship between author and performer, between time and space, between sound and listener.
