Pirelli HangarBicocca, an appointment with a 16 mm count footage

Thursday 10 May at 21.00pm Pirelli Hangar Bicocca presents the film screening of Matt Mullican, Elevated (2005), accompanied by the composition men by David Lang, performed live by the ensemble Zone Expérimentale, Basel, with solo trombone Mike Svoboda.

It will be projected on a large screen within the exhibition "The Feeling of Things", accompanied live by the composition man, the film Elevated (2005), made by Matt Mullican, fragments of street images in New York in the Thirties.

The film was made by Matt Mullican from amateur 16mm found footage, which captures street scenes in New York City. He is the author to capture the lives of dozens of anonymous people through the apparently neutral gaze of the camera.

Made by the artist in 1990 with the title Untitled (DG Oswald NYC, 1935) the film was then released in 2005 under the title Elevated jointly composed by David Lang men (2001)

David Lang says “men is about men and their history…it's a sad march of people's hopes and dreams”.
