Pirelli and Rosneft find partners for synthetic rubber

Pirelli and Rosneft, within the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year, have identified Synthos, a company based in Poland and leader in the production of chemical raw materials, as the technological partner with which to develop research, production and supply of synthetic rubber in Nakhodka , in the context of the FEPCO (Far East Petrochemical Company) petrochemical hub. Pirelli, Rosneft and Synthos have therefore signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct feasibility studies related to activities concerning the engineering design requirements and plant operation, as well as market studies, investments and operating cost estimates.

The three groups also intend to use the FEPCO petrochemical hub to produce synthetic rubber with the aim of supplying, among other things, the Pirelli factories located in the Apac area. The synthetic rubber that would be produced in Nakhodka is of particular interest as it is an environmentally friendly material used in the production of "green tyres" that optimizes fuel consumption and grip on both wet and dry surfaces.
