Pirelli: the Graphis platinum medal for the “Spinning the wheel” report

The budget Pirelli 2013 “Spinning the wheel” was awarded the platinum medal of the 2014-2016 edition of the prestigious competition organized by Graphics, magazine that collects the best worldwide production in design. Designed by the Milanese agency Cacao Design, the 2013 Pirelli Annual Report was the only Italian to be awarded the Platinum medal.

Pirelli's 2013 financial statements were also included in the Graphis portal and in its printed yearbook, which constitute two points of reference in the complex annual report design activity. The jury, which includes the names of the most influential Annual Report designers on the world scene, awarded a total of 8 platinum, 77 gold and 92 silver medals in this edition.

The award recognizes Pirelli's capacity for innovation which has always characterized not only its products, but also its own communication methods, which also extend to the story of the company, through its Annual Reports, going beyond just numbers and technical texts. The 2013 balance sheet developed with Cacao Design combines accurate graphics with a touch of originality given by its 45 degree inclination.

To draw up the 2013 budget, focused on talent, Pirelli had called together nine young emerging international talents – active in architecture, physics, design, music, animation cinema and fashion – with the aim of "reinventing" the wheel, highlighting the creativity, intuition, commitment, tenacity and passion that give shape to a successful idea, project or product. The Annual Report “Spinning the Wheel” had already won three prestigious awards in the field of design and graphics: the Gold Trophy Award, one of the top international awards of the International Design Awards (IDA), the third prize in the Annual Report category of the European Design Awards and inclusion in the ADI Designex Index, the annual publication of ADI Association for Industrial Design.
