After the Algerians, the sheikhs of Oman. New promises of revitalization for the port hub of Piombino are still arriving from the East: this was announced by the Port System Authority of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, of which the Tuscan port of call is a part and whose president, Stefano Corsini, has met personally Nasser Bin Mohammed Al Hashar, business man at the head of Al Jazeera International Group. 

The group led by Al Hashar is mainly active in real estate, infrastructure, transport and tourism, but also in energy and finance. And according to rumors, the Omani tycoon also has agri-food projects in Italy, also to be carried out in Piombino, where he would like to relaunch the industrial plants with the production of cars for Formula GT3.

The operation has yet to be defined and caution is a must, after Piombino's recent negative experience with Cevital-Aferpi, the consortium led by Algerian tycoon Issad Rebrab, which targeted the former Lucchini steelworks, promising a relaunch based on the steel industry, logistics and also in that case agri-food. However, in the Piobino steel plant, the crisis is far from being resolved because Cevital has not kept its investment commitments, but in the case of the port hub, the project seems to have a broader scope.
