Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and Giovanni Cova & C. celebrate Raphael

On the occasion of the fifth centenary of the death of the "Divine Painter", the historic Milanese pastry shop presents a new line of Panettoni, on whose wrappings appears the reproduction of the "School of Athens" of which the Ambrosiana keeps the splendid preparatory cartoon.

The initiative, which also sees the Pinacoteca di Brera as a protagonist with "The Marriage of the Virgin", stands as a symbol for the relaunch of the Italian cultural system, through the enhancement of the huge national artistic heritage.

The Giovanni Cova & C pastry shop promotes an initiative of high artistic value and profound symbolic meaning, involving two important Milanese institutions, such as the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and the Pinacoteca di Brera.

For the Christmas period, Giovanni Cova & C. presents a new line of Panettoni celebrating Raphael, on the occasion of the fifth centenary of the death of the "Divine Painter".

Two of the major masterpieces of Urbino will be reproduced on the wrappings of the Christmas cake par excellence: The School of Athens, of which the Ambrosiana keeps the splendid preparatory cartoon and "The Marriage of the Virgin" of Brera.

In each pack it will be found as a gift a book, edited by the two Milanese institutions, with the description of the works and six discount coupons worth a total of 30 euros, which can be used for admission to the exhibitions of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and the Pinacoteca di Brera, from December 2020 to June 2021.

“For some years now we have embarked on a path to enhance the Italian artistic heritage, especially linked to the Milanese excellences because each of our products excites and we want to continue to generate these feelings both in the taste and in the purchase of one of our products. – he confides Andrea Muzzi CEO of Giovanni Cova & C. – The pandemic has turned our lives upside down, our programs – and he continues – we can still regain the pleasures of life and think about how to enhance Italian excellence and talent through the art of pastry, even in this difficult historical moment”.

“Since 1609, the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana, built by Federico Borromeo in the geometric center of the city of Milan – recalls Marco Ballarini, prefect of the Ambrosiana -, is a point of reference for all those who are in search of the True and the Beautiful. Its prestigious collections of precious manuscripts and very rare printed matter and its art gallery – the oldest museum in Milan! Not only a place of study and museum, the Ambrosiana has always been a place for meeting, discussion and collaboration with the cultural, institutional and entrepreneurial realities, which constitute the excellence of our city".

“For the second consecutive year – continues Msgr. Marco Ballarini -, Ambrosiana is pleased to collaborate with Giovanni Cova & C., whose brand is for everyone an immediate reference to a confectionary product of haute patisserie and rigorous Milanese tradition, such as Panettone. The Ambrosiana is also pleased to participate in this initiative with another prestigious Milanese institution, the Pinacoteca di Brera, custodian of a precious panel by the Master of Urbino. With innovative ways, once again art, culture and tradition, in their multiple and varied forms, find ways to tell each other, narrating together the wonders that Milan can offer.
