GDP, CsC: possible impact beyond expectations from maneuver

The forthcoming budget law could have a higher than expected impact on growth, exceeding the 0,4% expected by the government "if the tax supports generate purchases of additional machinery and plants". The Centro Studi Confindustria writes it in its October report on the economic situation.

The CsC confirms that the Italian GDP has returned to advance in the summer months, even more than expected (+0,26%), however the leading indicators suggest that this trend cannot be replicated in the autumn.

In the third quarter, industrial production in Italy rose by 0,8%, thanks to +1,7% in August and despite the -1,8% estimated by the Confindustria study center for September.

In the background - the analysts explain - the unknown outcome of the constitutional referendum and the open game of bank credit to businesses remain, with disbursement conditions that remain very tight and a number of loans that continues to decrease (-0,2% ?in August).
