Italian economic activity "is heading towards a gradual recovery" and in 2014 "the dynamics of the product is estimated at 1,1%", while "starting from 2015, GDP growth should reach levels close to 2%". The Economy Minister said, Fabrizio Saccomanni, speaking at the inauguration of the academic year of the Tax Police.

The minister's words respond to the alarm raised in the morning by Charles Sangalli: “Businesses in the trade, tourism and services are exhausted, from North to South – said the president of Confcommercio -. And unfortunately 2014 will certainly not be the year of substantial recovery. It will not be so either for the stability law which, if it is not corrected, will leave the structural problems of our economy unresolved”, above all as regards the fiscal chapter.

As for the approval of the package, which the process begins tomorrow in the Senate Budget Committee, “we are not afraid of the high number of amendments – continued the number one of the Treasury -. It is now up to the Parliament to approve the law, making all the improvements that will be deemed appropriate, in compliance with the programmatic balances".

In short, the limits are clear: for "the economy to return to significant growth", according to Saccomanni, it is "essential that net debt remains within the threshold of 3% of GDP". On the other hand, “it is evident that we do not have simple solutions available to find additional resources and grant larger reliefs – continued the minister -. To this end, the systematic spending review process, which represents a fundamental aspect of the Government's action, will be crucial”.

With the same objective of raising cash, Saccomanni announced that by the end of the year the guidelines of the plan for the valorisation and disposal of public assets: "A targeted action to accelerate the reduction of the debt-to-GDP ratio".

On the front of payments of past debts of the public administrations, concluded the minister, “at the end of October, a total of approximately 22 billion were disbursed to the debtor institutions. The estimates of the payments made by the debtor institutions to the creditors on these resources are equal to 13,8 billion".
