He met them from a very close distance - except one -: fifteen personalities of an Italy that made history and politics together, without slipping into the maelstroms of crime news.

Sergio Zoppi wanted to collect his personal memories of 15 characters who have been the pillars of the country that we are, but who too often we have relegated to a kind of mythological, nebulous and misunderstood figure.

He does so in his recent work, 'Pietre di Confine – Personal appprendimenti', published by Rubettino, where on Corrado Dami, Giorgio La Pira, Nicola Pistelli, Giovanni Spadolini, Giulio Andreotti, Giulio Pastore, Giovanni Marongiu, Manlio Rossi-Doria, Anna De Lauro Matera, Massimo Annesi, Pasquale Saraceno, Gabriele De Rosa, Massimo Severo Giannini and Antonio Maccanico, known and frequented for a long time over the course of sixty years (almost a lifetime…), as well as on Amintore Fanfani, with whom he had a fleeting encounter sufficient to draw a shrewd profile, the author offers us many reasons for reflection (and nostalgia).

The fifteen portraits also have the merit of creating a fresco of an Italy in which hope and constructiveness prevailed, after the discouragement of the Second World War

world. The book “Pietre di confine – Personali appprendimenti” by Sergio Zoppi will be presented in Rome, on 26 February 2016, at 16 pm, in the Sala degli Atti Parlamentari of the Library of the Senate of the Republic, in piazza della Minerva, 30. Speakers will include: Gerardo Bianco, Guido Compagna and Giuseppe De Rita.
