Piazza Affari recovers after the crash in Athens

Closing in the red, but limiting the damage, Piazza Affari, which is set to end 2014 tomorrow on positive ground, albeit slightly. The Ftse Mib index, which had managed to lose 3% after the announcement of black smoke in the Athens Parliament and the inevitable elections scheduled for January 25, closed at -1,15% at 19.130 ​​points.

Madrid -1% is also in negative ground. The other markets were positive: London +0,36%, Paris +0,5%, Frankfurt +0,05%. After a nightmarish morning, in which it even lost 11%, the Athens Stock Exchange recovered in the afternoon and the Atex index closed at -3,91%, weighed down by the drop in banks: Nstional Bank of Greece lost 7,7%.

After an uncertain start, Wall Street accelerates and updates the record set on Friday the 26th with a new all-time high for the S&P500 index at 2.092 points. The Nasdaq is unchanged, the Dow Jones is up 0,05% while the S&P500 is up 0,2%.
The political turmoil in Greece has revived risk aversion: the yield on the German Bund has touched a new all-time low of 0,547%. The Btp/Bund spread closed at 142,78 bp with a yield of 1,988%.

The Treasury placed 7 billion 6-month BOTs at 0,297% (against the previous 0,272%). The 24-month Ctz, 2,5 billion, were placed at 0,489%.

 Downside in Piazza Affari the banks: Unicredit and Intesa Sanpaolo close in the red by more than 2% against a drop in the European seven index of 0,36%. Also sitting in the red for utilities: Enel -1,8 %, A2A -1,5%.

Eni lost 1,4% on fears over the situation in Libya and a possible downgrade by S&P. On positive ground, Yoox +1,8% and Luxottica +1% stand out. Retrace after the latest increases Wdf -2,43%. Off the main list Tiscali leaps +15% thanks to the agreement on the restructuring of the 140 million debt.

Crude oil gains 0,4% to 54,9 dollars a barrel while on the currency market the euro is worth 1,219 dollars and 146,9 yen while the dollar/yen cross is at 120,6.
